Thursday we had an amazing celebration of the arts in Baltimore. We (GBCA) co-hosted an event with the Baltimore Community Foundation at the Baltimore Museum of Art. The evening highlighted the emerging arts community, the BCF confetti grant award recipients, and the work done by artists, cultural organizations, and supporters of the arts. The evening included performances from American Studio Orchestra, Effervescent Collective, Shodekeh, and a video by local filmmaker, Joe Rubino.
GBCA unveiled a brochure titled “Art: Everywhere in Baltimore”, which contains economic impact data for the cultural sector in the Greater Baltimore region, as well as a look at the vibrant and diverse cultural community. A companion microsite to the brochure is www.artiseverywhereinbaltimore.org.
The evening finshed off with a tour of the Sondheim Prize Finalists and the 2010 Baker Artist Award exhibition, and a reception in the Antioch Court. It was a great way to kick-off a big weekend in Baltimore Culture, as the Americans for the Arts hosted their 50 year anniversary summit here in our fair city this past weekend. More on that anon.
