This past week, many of GBCA’s memberorganizations wrapped up their fiscal years. In addition to the conclusion of the year, several leaders completed their final days. One notable retiree is Leslie Shepard, who leaves Baltimore School for the Arts after more than 30 years with the school. Chris Ford will take her place as Director. Ford has been at BSA since 1981.
Another notable transition is Liz Lerman, founder of Dance Exchange in Takoma Park, and a Baltimore resident of the past several years, stepped down as Artistic Director of Dance Exchange last Thursday. I look forward to seeing what both of these extraordinary artists and leaders do in the coming years.
Another important transition occurring in the cultural community is the a year-long leadership transition at Baltimore Clayworks, as Founding Director Deb Bedwell is being succeeded by new executive director Benji Schulman. Not to mention Kwame Kewi-Armah who officially takes the helm at CENTERSTAGE tomorrow as Artistic Director.
Until next week–
