The BrickHaus Art Space

I am always impressed by our cultural entrepreneurs in the greater Baltimore region. One specific collective of individuals who recently caught my attention are the BrickHaus Art Space. They’re hosting their first public event this Friday, November 4 from 7-10pm. Here’s the link to their Facebook event. Located at 2602 Greenmount Avenue, a pair of MICA graduates have enlisted a corps of supporters and volunteers to re-imagine and renovate an old warehouse space into a functioning artists collective. When all is said and done, they hope to have studios, a shared metal shop, a shared wood shop, a gallery space, and a recording studio. When I was talking to them about why they created this new space, they told me they had looked at studios all across the area, but didn’t find what they were looking for, so they decided to make a major investment of time, energy, and money and build it themselves.

I hope you get a chance to go out and support them in their first public event.

Until next week–

Buck
