Executive Director’s Letter
January 8, 2013
The countdown is on! There are just seven days, yes that’s SEVEN DAYS, before the 2013 Baker Artist Awards nominations close. Do not stop, do not pass Go, proceed directly to The Baker Artist Awards website and upload your very best work. Visual artists, musicians, writers, performers, and artists of all kinds are welcome and encouraged to become a part of the Baker community by nominating themselves for the 2013 Baker Awards. We have big plans in store for the winners this year!
I am beyond excited about the opening of the new Everyman Theatre at 315 West Fayette Street. The building is exquisite and just the right scale for this intimate theatre company. You can join Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake and the talented Everyman family for the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10:00 AM on Monday, January 14. Immediately following the ceremony, guests will be welcome to get their first peek at the brand new facility from 11:00 AM to 12:00 Noon.
Maryland Humanities Council has narrowed the 140 submissions for next year’s One Maryland One Book program down to eleven books and they want to hear from you! In 2012 nearly 7,000 readers, hailing from every county in the state, took part in Maryland’s only statewide reading program. Click here to see the list of eleven titles and share your thoughts on the One Maryland One Book Facebook page or the MHC blog.
And one more time, Happy New Year!
