Executive Director’s Letter
January 22, 2013
At its recent meeting, the Greater Baltimore Cultural Alliance elected Leslie Shepard as its new Chairman. Leslie follows in the footsteps of Paul Meecham who has been an extraordinary leader during a time of transition for GBCA. I am delighted that Paul will remain on the board through 2013 and am grateful for his guidance and support over the past year.
Leslie Shepard is a consultant and strategy advisor to arts, educational, and philanthropic organizations. She is widely known for her years of service to Baltimore School for the Arts (BSA) where for ten years she was the Director. She played a key role in BSA’s rise to becoming one of the nation’s preeminent pre-professional public arts high schools.
The Board has also made three exciting additions including Lea Gilmore, an internationally renowned singer, activist, and Deutsch Foundation fellow; David Mitchell, a theatre practitioner who was Managing Director of Run of the Mill Theater and Assistant Artistic Director at Arena Players; and Bryn Parchman, President and CEO of Port Discovery Children’s Museum.
There is so much in store for 2013, stay tuned and stay connected.
